My recently new favorite movie is a cooking one called, Julie and Julia. It's funny, and inspiring and you feel good at the end. No big tragedy occurs and there's no big drama except for those in the kitchen. I can relate to the breakdowns in the kitchen, I had one tonight. Oh and it makes me want to cook. I recommend that you see it, it's just so fun! Here's the trailer: Julie & Julia
Here's the dialogue from one of my favorite scenes. It's in the trailer as well. Julia Child and her husband just moved to Paris and this is their conversation at dinner. Julia is trying to figure out what she wants to do:
Husband: What is something you really like to do?
Julia: Eat!
H: And you're so good at it!
J: I am good at it.
H: Look at you, now how good you are!
J: I'm growing in front of you!!
haha! Meryl Streep is so good in it, so quirky and so funny. And Amy Adams is great too. I can relate to that...what is something I really like to do? Eat! I probably like it too much.
So I like to eat but I'm not good at cooking. Growing up my mom would always ask if I wanted to help her in the kitchen. If it involved baking cookies, I was in because I loved eating the cookie dough. If it was cooking, not so much. Now that I'm married I wish I knew how to cook. It would be nice. Ryan's sweet and eats all the food I make, but I know major improvements are needed!
So I'm going to start cooking and blog about my adventures. I'm starting off with one new recipe per week. That's all I can handle right now. So this blog is going to record my adventures, all successes and failures. I hope it's enjoyable. Hopefully these cooking experiences will be character developing... We will see.
I've had your cooking and I've enjoyed it! Following instructions is half the battle. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Ariel!
ReplyDeleteI like cooking blogs so i'm gonna try to follow it. if it automatically makes a notice on facebook then i would definately follow it.
one recipe that i really like to make is "pasta green". It's easy, cheap and easy to make for loads of people(personal record is 27 people). I'm not sure how to convert to oz, but since we are the US always go up ^_^.
have about 150 grams of pasta per person
100 grams of spinach per person(in NL i would use the frozen chopped up)
100 grams of mushrooms(sliced)
250 grams of finely choppe up bacon(this is for 4 persons)
onions (as much as you'd like)
150 g boursin!(you'll find this in the cheese section, this is good 4 persons.
Ok. put the bacon on the fire and just stir until it's a tiny bit crispier but still chewy.(get rid of the fat now, cuz you don't want to eat that. Add onions and put them in the pa with the bacon untill the become a bit brown. Add the mushrooms and let them get ready as well. When does are all fine put in the spinach(if it's frozen turn the heat way way down, else turn it a little bit down). When you see evertthing is melted and starts to heat up put in the boursin cheese and start stirring untill you don't see chunks. Try not to get the sauce boiling cause cheese is worthy enough to not be boiled. if you make it like this, then this dish needs salt(a decent bit, and pepper) Plan this in such a way that the pasta is ready when the sauce is almost boiling. Combine & Enjoy.
typing this up makes me wanna eat it :/
thanks so much Bas! I'll definitely have to try it and post how it goes.
